Oregon personal tax audit

@Rex
Well, look at IRS form Schedule A and what total is listed as charity? Did you give this huge amount to charity? Who did your return?

No, it shows $4,100 for charity. Weekly tithes, monthly donations, that sort of thing (by the way, how do you prove weekly cash tithes?). Taxslayer.

@Rex
You have a letter from church. If you gave cash, you are screwed, but what are your other itemized deductions to have made you go over the standard deduction? Something is not adding up in what you are asking, providing, or the audit letter. Sorry.

Without seeing the letter and your actual tax return, it’s impossible to give sound advice. You should hire a pro if you think they are wrong.

@Maddox
Yeah, what they’re showing in the letter doesn’t match my tax return, so I’m getting a CPA. This is a disaster.

How many receipts are we talking about? Maybe a day’s work, or pay $6,000 and get a red tag in your file. You do you.
